About
Who We Are
Wheaton Bible Church (English language services) and Iglesia del Pueblo (Spanish language services) is a non-denominational, five-generation, multi-ethnic church united by the power of the Gospel located in West Chicago, IL.
We believe the Bible teaches that the Church is God’s Plan A in the world and there are no contingency plans. And as part of His Plan A, God gives godly shepherds to local churches as a gift to build up the body of Christ. But many shepherds are burning out or leaving ministry altogether.
In our unique cultural moment, local churches are in dire need of God’s gift of godly shepherds. We need shepherds who love Jesus and are called to love, serve, and lead God’s people for the long haul.
We believe the best way to actively explore that calling to shepherd is to experience for yourself what it means to serve and shepherd in a local church context. We also believe that the best way to live out that call is to cultivate healthy spiritual practices and consistent learning habits that increase dependence on the Holy Spirit.
That’s why we started the Church for the Church Shepherding Internship and Residency.
Who are we to jump into this with you? Wheaton Bible Church was founded in 1929 during the Great Depression but still sent a missionary to an under-resourced area as our first act of love. We now support 90 missionaries around the world. We care about families and do what it takes to help them succeed like investing in our Puente del Pueblo ministry (now the largest social services provider in West Chicago) and care groups. And that’s just the start. Check out Our Story and our Beliefs & Values and more on our main church website to find out more.
Feel free to reach out using our Contact Form if you have any additional questions.
We would love to help you consider your calling as a shepherd and if this church family is where the Lord is leading you to do that.
